Susan M. Levings is the associate dean for planning and communications in the UCSF School of Pharmacy and the communications coordinator of the grant supporting the Partners in D program. In her Partners in D role, Ms. Levings is responsible for developing and instituting a communications plan and protocols that leverage the program for greatest visibility. As associate dean, Ms. Levings has a broad range of advancement responsibilities for the UCSF School of Pharmacy, ranging from web content development to strategic planning. She serves on the Dean’s Leadership Group.
Before joining the pharmacy school, Ms. Levings was director of campaign operations in the UCSF Office of Development and Alumni Relations. There she was responsible for advancing the overall strategic planning process for UCSF’s campuswide campaign, with particular emphasis on UCSF’s emerging 43-acre research campus at Mission Bay. Before promotion to this position, she served as director of development communications and oversaw the myriad activities that focused on identifying, making, and keeping donors. While in the development and alumni relations office, she also served as deputy director of annual giving for UCSF and as manager of the School of Medicine annual fund. Previously, Ms. Levings was a consumer information specialist and editor, working in the public affairs division of JC Penney Corporation at its New York City headquarters. She also was a lecturer at California Polytechnic State University where she developed and taught undergraduate courses in human nutrition and research.
Ms. Levings earned a Master of Science degree in human nutrition from the University of Maryland. She joined UCSF in 1989.
