Sam Shimomura, PharmD, FASHP, CGP, is associate dean and professor of pharmacy practice and administration at the Western University of Health Sciences College of Pharmacy, and a partner school principal investigator of the grant funding the Partners in D program.
Dr. Shimomura specializes in geriatric drug therapy. He is a consultant and member of the statewide advisory board for the California Geriatric Education Center (CGEC) based at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine. Dr. Shimomura has authored chapters in several pharmacy textbooks on Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease and articles on other geriatric-related topics and works with student pharmacists in outreach to seniors.
Dr. Shimomura earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of California, San Francisco, where he subsequently joined the pharmacy staff and faculty in the UCSF Drug Information Analysis Center. He then served as vice chair of the Division of Clinical Pharmacy. He joined the Western University of Health Sciences faculty in 1997.
